Cooler Master MasterBox K500 PC Case Review

Interior
With the side panel removed, you’re presented with a huge amount of space for your shiny new hardware. The main HDD bays are all tucked out of sight behind the motherboard or under the PSU shroud. This means you’ve got the full length of the chassis for big graphics cards and less restricted airflow. The PSU shroud runs the full length of the chassis but has a cut-away towards the front to free up space for radiators.
Expansion
There’s certainly room for a multi-GPU configuration here, and with the extra width, you’ll be able to manage some of the very wide GPUs on the market today; and more width if you’re custom looping the expansion cards.
Fans
I’m pleased to see that Cooler Master have installed some of their much higher quality fans in here too. There a 120mm fan in the back with a frosted blade design and anti-vibration mounts.
Tucked into the front, are two frosted transparent fans with addressable RGB lighting. Out of the box, the stock airflow on this chassis is pretty impressive. Plus, there’s room for 120/140mm fans and tall radiators in the front should you need them.
Storage
If you want to show off an SSD, this handy 2.5″ mount towards the front will do the job nicely.
There are a few cable routing cut-outs dotted around the motherboard tray. Nothing too crazy, but more than enough to get the job done. There’s a huge amount of cable tie-down points too, so keeping things tidy should be a breeze.
There are a lot of cables in here already though. For example, there’s a 1 to 5 RGB cable required for the built-in fans and RGB features of the front panel too. By my count, there’s one spare for you to expand further.
Don’t have RGB on your motherboard? No problem! Cooler Master include an RGB hub for you to get your lighting game back on track.
Storage
Aside from the PSU, you can also fit a pair of 3.5″ drives under the shroud.
They’re tool-free for 3.5″ drives, but there are screws included to mount 2.5″ drives should you need to.
