Cooler Master Masterkeys L Mechanical Keyboard Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Cooler Master Masterkeys L PBT Gaming Keyboard is available on Amazon for $89.99. That’s pretty good value for money, it’s not cheap, but it’s respectable given the build quality and features on offer.

Overview

I’ve tested many Cooler Master keyboards over the years, and time and time again they’ve left me impressed. To this day, I don’t think we’ve tested one we didn’t love, and the new Masterkeys L is certainly no exception. When it comes to shopping for a durable and reliable keyboard, there are only a few brands on the market that I lean towards. Corsair, Cherry, Cooler Master are certainly at the top of their game; maybe it’s just brands that begin with a C…

There are so many great keyboards on the market these days. It can be impossible to pick which one is best. Is the Masterkeys L the best of the bunch? Not really, but it’s easily side by side with the best of the best. It’s really about which one has the aesthetics and features that best suit your needs.

Lots of Features – Minimal Fuss

The Masterkeys L certainly ticks a lot of boxes. It doesn’t use any desktop software, making it plug and play friendly. This includes all the built-in features, which are controllable from onboard hotkeys. It has adjustable repeat rates, on-the-fly macro recording, and multimedia controls. The cable is completely removable and easily replaced. The only thing it doesn’t have is LED lighting, and honestly, that’s fine with me, it’s nice to see some options on the market that have high-end performance, but don’t all have full RGB lighting; it’s not like there aren’t plenty of them anyway.

Finally, we’ve got those gorgeous Cherry MX Switches. Cooler Master gets an extra thumbs up from us for having the MX Green switch as an option, as few keyboards launch with more than the big three; Brown, Red, and Blue. Add to that the new PBT keycaps, with have a lovely premium feel to them. Of course, their increased thickness and durability helps. However, it’s those red gaming key caps that give the L some added flair, and they’re a very welcome bonus, even if they’re only for aesthetic purposes.

  • Gaming Keycaps included in the box

  • No software required
  • Built-in multimedia controls
  • On-the-fly macro recording

Cons

“From the office to the gaming room, the Masterkeys L looks and feels professional in any environment.”
