Cooler Master MasterKeys Pro L Review

Introduction

Cooler Master have a long history of creating award-winning keyboards, and we should know, we’ve given them plenty of those awards for them, but so too have many other people around the world. It’s with that in mind that I’m very excited to see their latest keyboard, the MasterKeys Pro L, in the eTeknix office today. It follows on from their recent RGB range, but instead of shooting rainbows, Cooler Master are going after a more professional part of the market with a pure white LED configuration for their latest mechanical keyboard.

“The MasterKeys Pro L Intelligent White keyboard delivers the brightest white LED backlighting with the best responsive feeling that gamers have come to love. Get multiple LED lighting modes, on-the-fly macros, profile support, and Cherry MX switches – all in a classic, minimalistic design. For those looking for a crisp, clearer white that an RGB keyboard cannot deliver, the MasterKeys Pro L Intelligent White is for you.” – Cooler Master

Available in a choice of Cherry MX Red, Blue, and Brown switches, all equipped with white LED lighting, a powerful CPU for lag-free input, macros and lighting, as well as a whole other range of features that will benefit your work and gaming, the Pro L is sounding like a great keyboard already.

  • Cherry MX Switch (Red/Blue/Brown)
  • White LED Backlight
  • ARM Cortex M0 32bit CPU
  • F/W on-line update
  • Repeat rate Adjustment
  • On the Fly Macro key Recording
  • Win Lock
  • Multimedia Function
  • Minimalism ID Design
  • 1.5m Braided cable with gold plated connector
  • Top cover Matte Coating
  • Metal Plate Inside

The keyboard features a snappy 1ms response rate, as well as a 1000 Hz polling rate and adjustable repeat rate, so you should expect good performance here. On top of that, you’ll find on-board memory to store your macros and lighting profiles, both of which can be recorded on-the-fly.

The packaging is the same style as all the new CM products and features a great image of the keyboard and its LED lighting on the front.

Around the back, a quick international run-down of the features, as well as an exploded view of the keyboard which shows off the switches and metal mounting plate on the interior.

In the box, you’ll find the keyboard, a very nice quality key cap puller, a high-quality braided USB to Micro-USB cable, and the usual documentation.
