Cooler Master MK730 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Final Thoughts

How Much Does it Cost?

The Cooler Master MasterKeys MK730 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is available as of today. It’s on Scan right now for £129.98. Not cheap, but when it comes down to it, you’re getting what you pay for. It’s certainly competitive with rival products of a similar class. In fact, it’s still about £15 cheaper than the fairly similar Razer BlackWidow TKL, only it doesn’t come with the same intrusive software we get from Razer. Win-win.

Overview

Cooler Master really pushed up the quality on this model, and that’s saying something. Cooler Master keyboard have a history of being pretty much tank-proof when it comes to the build quality. The newest member of the MasterKeys family keeps that trend going and I applaud Cooler Master for the overall construction of the MK730.

Materials Matter

When it comes to building a nice keyboard, aluminium does seem to be the go-to material of choice. However, how it is applied to the design can vary quite a lot. Cooler Master hasn’t skimped on the metal here though, with a thick and durable aluminium top shell giving this keyboard plenty of core strength. They’ve also opted for a darker finish and some pretty aggressive brushed metal finishing. Overall, it looks superb, and I especially love how it diffused and reflects any light that hits it; especially the RGB lights.

Added Value

When it comes to commanding this kind of price, you want a premium product experience in every respect. With the MK730, you get a fantastic keyboard that can command that price all on its own. However, the addition of a padded PU leather wrist rest, that mounts magnetically too. As well, you get custom keycaps in the box, a key cap removal tool, and that slick USB Type-C cable. Then there’s the built-in macro and lighting engines, multimedia controls, etc, the list just goes on.

Should I Buy One?

Without a doubt, this is one of the nicest keyboards I’ve used in recent years. There’s no big innovation here, and we’ve seen similar feature sets from Cooler Master on previous models. However, they’ve fine-tuned the little details, the materials, the aesthetics, and the build quality to make it better than ever. Highly recommended!
