Cooler Master MM520 Claw Grip RGB Mouse Review

A Closer Look

The mouse comes hard-wired with a rubber sleeved cable. Overall the cable is durable and lightweight, so it shouldn’t snag on your desk and should last. The USB header is nice and small too, so it won’t stick out too far from your system; this could be handy for laptop gamers too.

With a wide and fatter design, the curvy shape makes this mouse perfect for those who use a fingertip or claw grip play style. The sides are scooped out to get you really get a hold on the mouse. The shape lends its self well to using a lift off technique too, which is ideal for those who like to use lower DPI settings for gaming.

Down the left side, you’ll find the two usual side buttons. They’re nice and large too, so triggering them with a simple slide of your thumb is easy enough.

Built-in RGB Lighting

Around the back of the mouse, there’s a bit of RGB lighting around the black Cooler Master logo, as well as a small light bar at the base of the mouse. The RGB lighting is also built into the mouse wheel, giving you three lighting zones in total. You can customise the colours from the desktop software, and with millions of colours and a few effects on offer, you’ll not be left wanting for customisation.

You’ll find a nice ergonomic bump on the right side of the mouse, allowing you to really dig in your ring and little finger. There’s also some added rubber grip on the lower section for extra control. The last thing you want is the mouse slipping from your fingers, and that’s unlike to happen here.

The LMB and RMB are mounted with their own separate panels for more accurate feedback and control. The Omron switches feel snappy, light, and very responsive with a satisfying tactile and audible click. The slight curve to each button gives a good finger resting position too. The mouse wheel is large and features a soft rubber grip coating, making it very easy to control, with a small switch behind it that’s ideal for DPI switching.

This mouse doesn’t have a large footprint, but it’s flat base provides excellent glide on any surface. The glide is improved even further by three large slip mats, which make it easier to use on anything from hard cloth to thickly padded gaming surfaces.
