Performance

Cooler Master has had a strong run of great sensors in their gaming mice, and the MM520 is no exception. Operating up to 12000 DPI, you can fine tune it exactly how you like it. Sure, it’s moving fast enough to track over a 4K display with 1cm of movement at max DPI, but for fast turning in vehicles in FPS titles, it’s amazing to use. Need to scroll the map in a MOBA in a split second? Not a problem. Of course, when you slow things down, you’ll find the sensor is silky smooth, and it’s as trusty as we’ve come to expect from a Pixart sensor. There’s no default angle snapping or prediction here, so competitive gamers are going to be more than happy.

Software

The Cooler Master software is super easy to use and is a one size fits all for all CM peripherals. The mouse is plug and play ready, so don’t worry if you have no interest in the advanced features, or need to take your mouse into a no-software allowed gaming tournament. However, with the software you can configure the mouse extensively, so it’s recommended you have a tinker with it.

Every button on the mouse is fully programmable, meaning you can fine-tune it how you like. Using a TactiX shift button of your own choosing, you can create a second tier of buttons, giving you even more commands, macros and launchers as you need them. This is especially handy for MOBA and MMO game types where extra commands can be real time savers.

RGB lighting

Full RGB lighting means you can customise the three lighting zones on the mouse to suit your needs. Not only can this give your desktop some added flair, it’s also handy for making profiles visually distinct. There’s plenty of effects to play with too, and you’ll have no issues getting it setup just how you like it.

Sensor Adjustments

There are four DPI levels available to adjust. You can set separate X/Y values and DPI from 100 to 12000 DPI. Angle snapping is off by default, which is good to see, and you can tweak the polling rate too. Overall, the sensor performance is superb, and from eSports to Facebook, you’ll be more than happy with what it has to offer.

Macros

The macro engine is powerful too, allowing for real time recording, multiple profiles, programmable to any key. If you do a lot of repetitive work tasks, or just need profiles to farm mobs in MMO’s, you’ll love playing around with macros.
