Cooler Master Tempest GP2711 165Hz Mini-LED Gaming Monitor Review

A Closer Look

The monitor comes with everything you need to get going, including a premium quality HDMI and DisplayPort cable. There’s an external power block, but it’s surprisingly small, so small I’m amazed they didn’t just build it into the display.

The monitor comes with a calibration report for the sRGB mode, which is always great to see, so it should be ready to rock right out of the box.

The display is easy enough to assemble, with a stand that just clips into the back, and a base that uses a single thumbscrew to attach, so it took about 30 seconds to put together.

The stand mounts into this grille that’s shaped like the Cooler Master logo, which is neat. Plus, it’s a very clean-looking stand, not overly gamer-looking, so it won’t look out of place in an office if needed.

There’s a master power button on the back, as well as a four-way thumbstick/button to control the UI.

On the underside, there are a few USB ports, allowing you to hook up some peripherals directly to the display.

Plus, there’s HDMI, DisplayPort, and Type-C input for displays, allowing you to hook up to multiple devices easily enough.

The panel is 27″ and comes with a very good quality anti-glare coating. Just look at how strong the shadows are from my spotlight and how bright my desk is for some idea of how well this coating is working.

The panel is easily adjusted, with a wide range of height and angle adjustments, so you can easily find your optimal viewing position.

The stand is nicely weighted, but the adjustment mechanism flows really well, allowing me to adjust the monitor height, angle or tilt with one hand.

It even supports a full portrait mode. Albeit, the OSD doesn’t have a vertical mode, so you do have to turn your head to change the settings in this orientation, which is annoying.
