Cooler Master TPC 800 Vapour Chamber CPU Cooler Review

The Cooler Master TPC 800 is not a cheap CPU cooler. Retailing at £45 without fans it is more expensive than the better performing Scythe Mugen 3 CPU cooler which includes a fan. It also falls short of its £30 sibling the Cooler Master Hyper 412 Slim. Once you factor in the cost of some fans, potentially £7-15 a piece, you’re looking at £60-75 to get this CPU cooler up and running in your system. Even if you happen to have two 120mm fans laying around in your house then £45 is still quite a lot for what you get performance-wise.
What Cooler Master have done with this CPU cooler is innovation, but it is the first time they have done it and from the results we can see this technology needs a lot of work still to refine its effectiveness.
The cooling performance isn’t bad, the aesthetics are brilliant and as usual Cooler Master’s mounting kit and accessory package is second to none. Had Cooler Master decided on an RRP of £30-35 or £45 with a couple of fans I’d probably be giving this heatsink an award. However, with the current pricing this CPU cooler doesn’t offer good value for money.
Cooler Master did everything right until they put a price on it. If you can pick this up for a reduced price then you’ll probably be pleased at what you bought but I couldn’t honestly recommend this for £45 without fans.
