I took base measurements with the Yate Loon, and then exchanged the fan. Once I installed the new one, I left my PC on for an hour before taking any new measurements. The room temperature remained constant throughout.

As you can see, there is little variation in temperature of my CPU, but due to the split design of the v1200 case, this is to be expected. However my HDD temperatures are slightly higher albeit not by an alarming increase. I’d rate the Yate Loon 7 out of 10 in terms of acceptable fan noise and the Coolermaster a low 2. However, it is fairly obvious that the Coolermaster cannot move as much air, but in saying that, I am comparing it to one of the best around for that.

One thing that did bug me is that the fan remained at a constant 800 rpm, even when running through my Zalman fan controller. If I could up the speed to 1200, I think it could perform as well in terms of cooling as the Yate Loon but not be anywhere near as noisy. From looking around it seems you can Volt mod it to run faster, but I bring you back to my original point in paragraph 1, I’m too lazy so why can’t I change the speed with my fan controller.
