Cooler Master V6 GT CPU Cooler Review

Final ThoughtsThe features, specification and general look of the Cooler Master V6GT gave us a projection of the type of performance it was going to offer. We anticipated great things from this cooler and we most definitely were not disappointed!

The performance offered by the V6GT is brilliant! It had the cooling ability to keep our hot running i7 2600K under 70C even when overclocked to 4.4GHz with 1.288V being pumped through. Cooler Master’s decision to use 2200RPM fans with good static pressure really paid off where performance is concerned.

Aesthetics are covered in every aspect of the cooler. The matte black ‘engine’ designed heatsink cover as well as the matte black tool-less fan boxes makes for a very appealing style. The translucent and very reflective fan blades allow for case lighting to be exploited and reflected making an interesting and customisable internal look. All of this topped with the multi-coloured LED in the ‘engine oil cap’ on the top of the heatsink and the V6GT is by far one of the best looking coolers on the market!

Acoustics are definitely a weak point of the V6GT, but this is partially understandable when it sports dual 2200RPM 120mm fans. At the 100% fan speed we tested it at, it was undeniably loud but once the fans are set to PWM mode and lower their speed while the CPU isn’t getting too hot, the noise is far more bearable.

At the available price of around £39, we would have no problem recommending the Cooler Master V6GT provided you have the space in your case and clearance with your RAM modules. Great job Cooler Master!

Pros:

  • Excellent performance
  • Looks amazing
  • Competitive price
  • Innovative design
  • Effective installation

Cons:

  • Loud at full speed
  • Possible interference issues
