Cooler Master V6 GT CPU Cooler Review

Installation

Two brackets supporting LGA 775/1155/1156/1366 are attached to the motherboard.

The universal backplate allows screws to be screwed through the mounting holes on the motherboard and attach to the mounting brackets previously mentioned.

The top of the heatsink’s base has a specialised ‘groove’ design to allow the holding bar to clamp the heatsink in position.

The holding bar screws into the brackets attached to our motherboard giving the cooler a very sturdy and effective mount.

The fans must be removed when mounting the cooler to access and tighten the bolts on the holding bar.

A specialised channel is built into the heatsink to allow the molex cable which supplies the LED’s power to run down. An all black molex cable would have been a nice addition by Cooler Master.

The tool-less fan boxes clip onto grooves in the side of the heatsink.

If necessary, different fans can be used on the heatsink. The fan boxes support standard sized 120mm fans.

When mounted, the V6GT is very attractive especially with the matte black heasink covers and shiny, translucent fan blades.

We really have to amplify the point of how attractive this cooler looks in our test system.

The “Engine oil cap” which sports the Cooler Master logo contains an LED which can be set to 3 different colours. Firstly, red.

Next is blue.

Overall, the installation procedure was fairly straightforward thanks in large to the helpful and thorough instruction manual. Some procedures did leave us wishing that we had 3 hands, but this was nothing too significant. The mount was secure even when holding this 939g monster.
