CoolerMaster MasterBox 5 Ultra White Edition Chassis Review

A Closer Look – Exterior

The MasterBox 5 comes in both black and white variants, and we’ve got their lovely white model in for review today. What is immediately apparent is that the quality of the paintwork is very good. It’s thick matte white with a little hint of gloss to it, super smooth and it gives it a nice premium quality look and feel.

There’s a huge side panel window, with a mild tint to it to help hide some of the less exciting details in there, but overall, it’s going to give you a great way to show all your new hardware.

The front panel on this model comes with a slightly transparent black plastic front cover. This will allow for any LED lighting to illuminate the panel, while still giving you the appearance of a solid panel.

At the top, a simple I/O with all the basics in place, nothing too fancy, but it’s everything you’re likely to need.

For quick and easy maintenance, as well as making it easier to access the front fan mounts, the front panel cover can be pulled off without the use of tools. Behind it, you’ll find a single 120mm fan pre-installed.

The right side panel is just a flat panel, nothing fancy, but it looks neat and tidy and that’s absolutely fine by me.

Around the back, you’ll find another pre-installed 120mm fan, the 7 expansion slots, and the PSU cut-out. There’s nothing particularly fancy here, but again, it all looks neat and tidy and covers all the basics.

A few interesting things going on underneath the chassis, with a slide-out dust filter for the PSU towards the back, and some very durable and wide feet that give the MasterBox 5 excellent stability. There are a few cut-outs and bumps too, which are part of the internal drive mounts and cable tidy fittings.
