Coolermaster N400 Mid-Tower Chassis Review

With the side panel off we see that the chassis features a good size CPU cooler cut-out and an all black interior paint job. There is a native USB 3.0 header included and lastly we notice there is a small cable routing cut-out along the bottom.
There are two 5.25″ drive bays, both fitted with a twist-lock mechanism for easy installation and removal of your drives. There are also some twist-locks on the top 3.5″ HDD bays but strangely there are none on the rest of the drive bays, would have been nice to see these all the way down the HDD bay.
The back of the chassis features a fiarly standard 120mm exhaust fan, but it does come fitted with a 3pin to molex adaptor to ensure maximum compatability with your system.
The top features a clip in dust filter for the top fans, although this for me is another confusing dust filter. I guess this works as a filter should you not install fans here, but typically top mounted fans are for exhausting air and thus do not need to be filtered. I would like to point out that there is no cable routing holes above the motherboard, but we’ll get to why in a few moments.
Here we can see the dust filter, it’s pretty good quality and easy to maintain since you can just rinse it under the tap to clean.
Around the back of the chassis we better see the cable routing options, or should I say lack of options. There is a small cutout at the bottom to route cables from the PSU, but no where for them to go, since there are no vertical cut-outs or in fact any others near the motherboard you cannot route cables, nor can you have them behind the motherboard as there is only 1mm clearance in that area.
At the bottom of the chassis there is 15mm space for a little excess cable, but as I said before there is no where to route it to.
The right side features an extra fan mount area and you could mount 2 x 120mm fans here or even a slim radiator. Cleverly there is a plastic bracket hanging in the bottom fan mount that can be removed if you need the space for a fan, but it does provide you with two more 2.5″ HDD bays, clever.
The right side panel also features a dust filter much like the top panel.
