Coolit Domino A.L.C. CPU Cooler Review

While this is clearly not the best performing Liquid Cooler on the market, we were certainly quite impressed with what this Coolit Domino A.L.C. can deliver. There are however several things we don’t desperately like about it, and the main thing, is that it won’t actually fit into lots of standard size cases although they claim it does. There is just not enough clearance on 3 mid-tower cases that we tested this device on, and on two of these cases we couldn’t physically get the side of the case on as the cooler was in the way. This is mainly due to the ‘display’ panel which is on the side of the radiator/fan, and as such the cooler is wider than the standard 120mm fan, and while it is quite nice that you can see the temperature and settings through a window-sided case we think this is a rather large design-flaw.
We also feel that the styling of this device is a bit lacking, but then they have focused on streamlining the performance and for that we can’t really blame them as anyone wanting an all-in-one liquid cooling set-up is probably looking for the performance over the aesthetics.
We do also feel that Coolit have missed out a few useful features, which both Corsair and Antec have taken full advantage of, through the use of the Corsair Link or ChiliControl (Antec) allowing you to set the exact performance settings that you require. The other problem was that the fan speed of the Coolit Domino registered in at over 6,000 rpm in Windows, whether it was on the highest or lowest fan speed setting.
In terms of its raw performance we were quite impressed, Coolit have kept the design fairly simple, and with only one fan we weren’t sure that it would perform that well. We were as such quite surprised that it is at least in a similar league to the Antec Kuhler 920 which is certainly a good benchmark even if the audible output is a bit higher than we would like.
The price of the Coolit, although it has been on the market for a while has not dropped much, and is currently available at a price of £71.58 at Advance Technologies which although fairly reasonable is slightly overshadowed by the price of the Antec Kuhler 920 which can be had for £75.58 on Scan.co.uk and of course the Corsair H80 is priced very similarly, both which provide better performance than the Coolit Domino A.L.C.
