The Corsair Crystal 570X Tempered Glass Mid-Tower RGB Chassis is available now from most major retailers, with an MSRP of £184.99. This isn’t exactly cheap, but let’s take a look at what you get for your money. There are four large tempered glass windows, fan and lighting controllers, three SP120 RGB LED fans (£18 each RRP!), and everything else that makes up a chassis, so it seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Overview

The latest chassis from Corsair isn’t perfect, but any flaws it does have are minor inconveniences in the grand scheme of things. What this chassis does do really well is make a statement, and having this beast sitting proudly on your desk is going to give you something to behold, something that will certainly get attention and is as much a piece of art as it is a box for your hardware. With new motherboards, graphics cards and virtually any other high-end hardware on the market these days having some stunning designs that you would want to show off, it doesn’t make sense to put them in a steel box where no one can see them. This is also true for custom loop water cooling hardware, no point in having that neon blue coolant with LED backlighting if you can’t see it… well OK, it’ll keep your system cool, but aesthetics are as much a part of high-end PC building as performance is these days.

The build quality is next-level on this chassis, and a lot of care has gone into the overall design. With most tempered glass window chassis, the design is fairly open, leaving dust and debris free to flow through your chassis and hardware, which isn’t ideal. The 570X may have glass on four sides, but it makes zero compromises on airflow, with lots of ventilation on the top, front and bottom of the chassis, and every intake is treated to a high-quality and rather huge dust filter, ensuring your system stays nice and clean, on the inside at least. The outside of the chassis is glass, so yes, it’s going to pick up fingerprints and dust, but when it looks this good to start with, taking a bit of pride to polish up the glass once a week is a small price to pay.

There are a few minor niggles with the build, such as the lack of routing holes at the back of the PSU shroud, making it hard to route cables to the bottom of the motherboard. The shroud is also quite short, which means there won’t be conflicts with thick radiators and other cooling hardware in the front, but you’ll have to pull out all of the stops to get your cables out of sight, especially when the interior is on show from virtually all angles. There’s a metal sleeve at the back for cable management too, but it’s quite slim and can only do so much. Honestly, this is not a chassis for first-time system builders, it’s going to lead to some cursing and a few minor headaches, but put in the time and the end result will be worth it, as seen in our build pictures.

There’s a lot of cool extras on offer here, such as that very nicely designed I/O panel, with built-in RGB lighting controller, with all the fan and lighting hubs on the interior that you’ll ever need too, as well as three drop dead gorgeous SP120 RGB LED fans in the front panel that do a fantastic job of lighting up the chassis and showing you why it was worth spending nearly £200 on a mostly glass chassis. With support for huge graphics cards, ATX motherboards, lots of fans/water cooling and a decent amount of storage, the 570X does not disappoint.
