Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

Despite the Corsair AX850 being rated to 850 watts of power, it is certainly not uncommon to see practically every power supply being capable of pushing that rated boundary a bit further if necessary. In this regard, however, ‘a bit further’ is something of an understatement. The power supply managed to generate another 334w. At least, before the overpower protections successfully kicked in to prevent the power supply from being damaged.

If you do, therefore, need 850w, but want a more than comfortable safety margin (I’m looking you extreme system builders and overclockers here) this is certainly a more than viable option. For regular PCs, this will eat up anything you throw at it!
