Corsair Carbide Series 678C Low-Noise Chassis Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Corsair Carbide Series 678C is available now from most major retailers. You can find it on Amazon for just £179.99. Of course, that’s not “cheap” but this is a premium chassis, with build quality and features to match. You pay more, but you certainly get a lot more in return also.

Overview

It seems that when it comes to chassis design, Corsair can do no wrong. Time and time again, they seem to improve on already fantastic products. The 678C certainly isn’t for everyone, but for those that want a clean, stylish and silence focused build, it knocks it out of the park.

Features Galore

While it doesn’t “look” feature packed, I wouldn’t judge a book by the cover, so to speak. In the front panel, you have noise dampening material, and even more of it on the right side panel, and in the removable top cover. All the fans use indirect airflow patterns for lower noise too. There are high-quality magnetic dust filters everywhere too. Three pre-installed 140mm Corsair fans provide plenty of airflow. There are nine tool-free drive bays, all modular, removable, and movable. Then we have a 5.25″ drive bay, 6-port fan hub, hinged side panel window and front panel, PSU shroud, cable management. I think that’s it. No wait, USB Type-C too. Phew, that’s a lot!

Build Quality

Why is this chassis almost £200? Well, thick metal panels, quality tempered glass, high-quality fans, filters, Type-C, and that lovely textured white paint job. You can get a lot of what’s on offer for half as much, but it won’t look half as good. This is a premium chassis, and it shows from every angle.

Should I Buy One?

If you care about lots of glass, RGB, high-airflow, custom loop cooling, etc. Well, then the new Corsair Crystal 680X is likely the way to go. If you want something that looks professional, regardless of it being a gaming build or a high-end office workstation, then the 678C is as good as it gets. Silence focused, without sacrificing style. I love it!
