The Corsair Spec Omega RGB Tempered Glass Mid-Tower Chassis is available now from most major retailers for around £139.99. That’s not cheap, but considering the features on offer add up fast, it’s a great deal. A single HD120 RGB fan can set you back around £18 although two and the controller is a good deal right now at £44 (currently down from £68.99!) and the inclusion of the RGB front panel is a big boost too.
Corsair, you have killed it with this one, the Spec Omega is a properly fantastic and fun chassis to behold. There are so many standard boxes out there, and half of this last year has been “old chassis with a glass panel added to it” from a lot of brands. That’s not a complaint, I love the revisions with glass and RGB, but the Spec Omega is new from the ground up, and it shows.
RGB is pretty much the Corsair thing to do these days, but I’ll be damned if they don’t do it better than anyone else these days. Their lighting engine is the best in its class. It’s easy to use, offers limitless expansion and customisation, and is sure to please those building a cool looking gaming PC. It’s not for everyone, but there are non-RGB versions of the chassis available for those that desire a more understated look.
The Spec Omega certainly has a unique look to it. The way that front panel leans forwards, the extreme angles that give it an alien robot-like design; mainly when you focus on the funky design of the chassis’ feet. The inclusion of a unique window design on the front panel is cool too, showing off the front fans, and letting ambient light spill out of the chassis onto the floor. It’s not the biggest chassis in the world, and I would like a little more cable routing space, but it’s workable. The fact that you can fit a massive CPU air cooler or even a 360mm radiator is impressive though. Furthermore, having all the storage bays hidden is a nice touch, keeping the central section of the chassis looking neat and tidy.
I think this is a bit of a unique product, and it’s not going to have broad appeal. It’s quite a loud design, and the RGB lighting makes it so much louder. However, if you want a dope gaming PC that’s as fun to look at as it is to play on, this is your ticket right here. I’d have this chassis up on top of my desk for all to see, not tucked away in some dusty corner.
