The Corsair 280X borrows a few design cues from the existing Corsair product range. Of course, that’s great news for Corsair lovers, as it won’t look weird next to some of their larger chassis designs. Of course, the Crystal part of the name really means “freaking loads of glass!” The chassis may be small, but it’s packing a window on the top, front and left sides, giving you a stunning view of the interior. Even more so, it’ll show off the RGB nicely too.
The chassis is split into two chambers, so the glass on the front is only on the left side. This is fine by me, as it means you don’t see the PSU, cables and other junk, but can show off the fun stuff like radiators, GPUs, and fans.
With the chassis being so compact, Corsair has added an exterior dust filter and large mesh to the right side.
Of course, this filter will allow airflow to your PSU and storage devices in the back of the chassis.
Around the back, you can better see that dual chamber design. The PSU mounts in the bottom left. Also, the 3.5″ drive trays are accessible from the rear too, which is a pretty neat space-saving trick from Corsair. On the right side, things look pretty standard, with the motherboard cut-out, four expansion slots and some ventilation; pretty much what you would expect from mATX.
