Corsair Crystal 280X RGB mATX Chassis Review

A Closer Look – Interior

With the side panel removed, you can better appreciate the interior design. There’s quite a bit of room in here, with cable routing holes covering just about every part of the backplate. There are three huge rubber grommets, as well as cut-outs at the bottom, and a larger cut-out for mounting a CPU cooler.

Up in the front, you’ll find a 120mm RGB fan is pre-installed. However, there’s room for another 120mm fan, or you can mount 140mm fans, or radiators here if you so desire.

Towards the back, there are four reusable ventilated metal expansion slot covers, and that’s about it really.

Again, lots to see here, but it’s all in an incredibly compact space. However, small or not, you’ll find room for an ATX PSU, 2 x 3.5″ hard drives in the top right caddy and 3 x 2.5″ drives in the top left caddy.

As you can see, there’s plenty of room left over for cable routing, and if you need more, those hard drive bays are fully removable too.

Tucked into the base, you’ll find the Corsair fan hub and RGB controllers are pre-installed. The fans RGB cables have been pre-installed too, so it’s pretty much ready to rock right out of the box.

Tucked behind the front panel, which can be removed with a firm pull on the sides, you’ll find another magnetic dust filter. Of course, this makes it possible to change the front cooling hardware too.

As if that wasn’t enough airflow and cooling, you’ll find room for 120/140mm fans radiator mounting in the base too. That’s impressive, as that means we can have a 240mm radiator in the front, up to a 280mm in the top, and another in the bottom.
