Corsair Crystal Series 680X Tempered Glass Chassis Review

Exterior

The chassis is quite large, but still maintains quite a small footprint. It does this thanks to its taller than usual design. It does look quite wide, but in reality, it isn’t overly so, not much more than many ATX chassis at least.

The use of tempered-glass on the left side, the front panel, as well as the top panel looks fantastic. Of course, with a black chassis, and tinted glass, it doesn’t really show off that well right now. However, there’s a triple-threat of LL120 aRGB fans in the front panel. Once we power this up, it’s going to be a stunning light show.

Airflow is all indirect too, which is obvious since air won’t pass through the glass its self. There’s loads of airflow at the edges though, and extra ventilation in the front sides of the chassis too.

As for branding, there’s a few logos on the fans, but otherwise, just a small Corsair logo on the bottom right corner. It’s quite subtle, but it means the focus will be kept on your build most of all.

Right Side Panel

Down the right side, a chunky black panel is mounted with a pair of thumb screws. Nothing too complex, but it gets the job done.

On the lower half of the panel, you’ll find a large magnetic dust filter. Since this is a dual-chamber chassis, this vent will allow for airflow to your PSU, storage and more.

Around the Back

Around the back, there’s all kinds of things going on! Here’s it’s more obvious how the dual-chamber design works too. On the left side, you can see mounts for the PSU, as well as some cooling mounts that could be used for custom loop hardware, or even SSD mounting. On the right, things are more standard, with a rear exhaust fan, and expansion slots below that.

Because the PSU is behind the motherboard, the 680X can afford to accommodate longer motherboards too. There are 10 expansion slots, with a further two slots vertically. That’s 12 in total, but you knew that, didn’t you.

On the base of the chassis, there are four chunky feet giving it good ground clearance. There’s a huge dust filter too, providing more airflow to the main compartment, and there are fan/radiator mounts here too.
