Corsair Dark Core RGB SE & MM1000 Wireless Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Corsair Dark Core RGB Wired/Wireless Gaming Mouse is available now from most major retailers. It comes in a few formats, starting with just the mouse for £84.99 (on sale from £89.99 at time of writing). Move up from there, you can get the Qi Charging pack for £99.99, or if you want to go all out, the whole thing including an MMM1000 mouse mat is £174.98, or £74.99 (on sale from £79.99) for the MM1000 on its own.

Overview

The latest mouse and mouse mat from Corsair are far from their most affordable. Of course, the high price tag is somewhat justified given the strong focus on quality and high-end features. It’s likely not in the price range for your average consumer to buy the whole bundle, but there’s certainly a market for it. On its own, the mouse is priced comparatively to the Logitech G900, and it’ll hold up pretty well in a head to head test too.

Performance

Corsair has really knocked it out of the park on this one, not that they’ve ever really sent me a sub-par gaming mouse anyway. They’re made all the right choices in regards to the components. A quality sensor, Omron switches, and comfortable ergonomics, albeit right hand only, makes for a great user experience. The mouse feels smooth and fluid, with pixel-perfect accuracy. Of course, you really can’t ask for much more.

RGB and Beyond

Equipped with three-zone RGB LED lighting, you’ve got plenty to tinker with here. As you saw in our pictures, the colours are bright and clear too. Thanks to CUE software, you can pair up all your Corsair hardware and sync the lighting effects and colours with ease. The software also allows you to fully reprogram the buttons on the mouse, set up your macros and more, ticking all the right boxes for PC gaming.

Build Quality

The build quality is superb throughout. The choice of materials used in the construction of the mouse feel robust and just have that “premium vibe” that you would expect in this price range. The tactile experience is just right, even down to the nicely braided cables and custom designed dongles.

Bye Bye Wires, Hello Wireless

Without a doubt, the wireless problem is solved. The mouse performance just as fast and smooth without the cable as it does with it. Having a choice of 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth means you’ll have no issues finding a format that works for you. The mouse pairs instantaneously charge with ease and can deliver long battery life. Sure, you’ll need the cable or the Qi pad to charge it, but you’ll only be reaching to do so after quite a few evenings of gaming.

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
