Corsair DOMINATOR PLATINUM DDR5 32GB 5200MHz Memory Review

How Much Does It Cost?
A kit of DOMINATOR PLATINUMs that has the same specs as what we have here can be found online from anywhere between £300 and £350 or $400 and $466 depending on the retailer and can be found on Amazon UK and Amazon US. You are definitely paying a premium for this kit over other kits but you are getting the quality and service of Corsair for that money at the same time, so it’s not quite as bad as it could be here. You are also paying for the added feature of RGB which always adds to the cost of a product.
Overview
Like with many things, you either love or hate DOMINATOR kits from Corsair, some people love the industrial design and build while others, like myself, prefer a simpler design that features more RGB on display to help accent the PC rather than draw attention to itself. But if I put my personal biases aside I can appreciate the beauty in the kit, the quality feels fantastic and the industrial aspect of the kit does look really nice, for me though the real let down is the design of the RGB.
When we look at the performance we can see that for the most part, the DOMINATORs are the top dog, only occasionally falling behind, and when it does fall behind it falls behind along with the VENGEANCE kit as they both had slower timings than the other kits tested. The biggest gripe in performance was the lack of any kind of overclocking stability, this meant we saw no improvement in any aspect of the memory which is unfortunate as I was hoping that we could push it quite far before we saw stability fall.
Should I Buy One?
Whether or not you buy this kit comes down to a few decisions that you need to make yourself, the first of which is how much do you value the ability to overclock? If the answer to that is that you don’t care for overclocking in the slightest then we can move on to the next question. Do you like the design of the memory? If it’s a yes then we can move on to the final and most important question. Do you think it’s worth the money? if the answer to this question is also yes then I would easily recommend that you buy this kit, but if you are more of a tinkerer or don’t wish to spend extra money on a more premium option then I cannot bring myself recommend this kit to you.
