Corsair Driver Update For Vengeance 2000 Headset Adds Dolby Support

Corsair’s Vengeance 2000 headset in my mind is one of the best wireless options out there on the market. Okay so it’s not a true surround headset, but its X-Ear surround technology does a very good job at giving virtual surround. Things have now gone one step better with a free driver update that adds more technology to the headset giving users a far better and immerse surround experience.

The updated driver adds Dolby Headphone 2.0 and Dolby Pro Logic IIx features on the system side and delivers up to 7.1 channel audio to the headset of an experience that sounds richer and fuller than before, with the latter feature processing native stereo and 5.1 channels, up mixing them to 6.1 or 7.1 channels accordingly.

Being an owner of a Vengeance 2000 headset, I’ve naturally downloaded and applied this update and truth be told, the difference that the Dolby updates make is clear as day. Being a Spotify user, I tend to spend most of my day listening to a wide range of music, but I did tend to find that enabling the X-Ear modes did make the source sound more distant. This new update though up-mixes the 2.0ch source and turning it into 7.1 audio with no sense of being distant and keeping punchy notes at both the high and low end of the spectrum.

The new control panel removes the X-Ear options and purely leaves the option to change the source type (2.0 Stereo / 5.1 Surround / 7.1 Surround) through which it dynamically enables and disables the Dolby features to enhance the audio accordingly alongside the equalizer and volume controls.

Rather than just announcing this update, I can clarify that this really does make a difference, so if you’re a Vengeance 2000 user, click the following link where you can download the driver update for free from Corsair and hear the difference yourself – Corsair Vengeance Driver Update.
