Corsair Gaming H1500 USB Gaming Headset

Final Thoughts

Price

The Corsair Gaming H1500 is a great headset, which means it’s capable of commanding a premium price tag. You can pick up a H1500 from Overclockers.co.uk for £74.99. This is quite expensive and puts the headset alongside some stiff competition from the likes of TteSports, SteelSeries and Razer; as they all have similar performance headsets for around the same price. The H1500 is backed by Corsairs standard 2-year warranty.

Overview

The Corsair Gaming H1500 is an important headset for Corsair, a lot of work has gone into it and fortunately for Corsair, their efforts have paid off. The headset is a little expensive at £74.99, but it is on par with similar specification and performance headsets from many of Corsair’s rivals. The good news is that the investment is certainly worth it.

The headset has been really well designed and while I admit that the aesthetics may not be to everyone’s liking, the physical design is very practical to use. The headset is lightweight, which means it feels comfortable even after hours of use. The headband padding and the ear cup padding are both very forgiving, making this one of the most comfortable headset I’ve ever tested. The microphone folds up out of the way when you don’t need it, the ear cups fold flat so you can wear the headset around your neck and the overall design feels pretty durable.

The drivers on this headset are some of the best in their class, their also some of the loudest! Music, movie and gaming all sound great on this headset and Corsair have certainly done a great job with the headsets built-in soundcard. The only downside is that you’re restricted to using the headset via a USB port. The USB soundcard does have some benefits, as the headset is plug and play ready, but you will need to download some software from the Corsair website if you want to use the Dolby surround features.

The microphone is one of the best I’ve tested. It does a great job a cutting out ambient noise; something that will no doubt please your team mates ears. It’s very clear and it’s a great microphone for use with gaming chat clients as much as it is on Skype.

Pros

  • Lightweight design
  • Durable build quality
  • Excellent microphone
  • Powerful drivers
  • Plug and play ready
  • Virtual Dolby
  • In-line controller
  • Braided cable

Cons

  • USB only

“The Corsair Gaming H1500 is one of the best mid-budget gaming headsets available. It’s lightweight and comfortable to use for long gaming sessions, it has powerful and clear audio and it also has one of the best microphones I’ve tested. A solid all-round performance from Corsair.”
