Corsair Gaming K63 Mechanical Keyboard Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Corsair Gaming K93 Cherry MX Red Mechanical Gaming Keyboard launches today and should start hitting retailers any time now with an MSRP of just £79.99. That’s a pretty good price for a well-trusted brand name mechanical keyboard!

Overview

The latest keyboard from Corsair is pretty straightforward, and it offers a no-fuss design that keeps the focus on raw gaming performance. Using high-quality Cherry MX Red switches, you know it’s going to be responsive in any gaming task, and it’s going to be just as much fun for day to day work as well. It’s great to type on for extended periods thanks to the light and responsive switches, so it shouldn’t slow you down during your all-night gaming marathon.

The design is nice and compact, and while ditching the number pad isn’t something everyone wants to do, there are a lot of PC users and gamers out there who prefer the shorter design that the K63 offers. The shorter design takes up a lot less desktop space, which is perfect for those who already have limited space on their desktop, or for those who want to free up more room for their mouse. The shorter design also means it’s much easier to store and transport the keyboard, making it small enough to pick up and put in your backpack if you’re travelling to a friends house for a LAN gaming night, or even an eSports or LAN gaming event.

The build quality is rock solid, as it often is with Corsair products. It may not have the aluminium chassis of their premium models, but it’s still very sturdy looking and feeling, so should survive a few rough knocks and bumps with ease. To improve its life span, I would have liked to see a detachable cable, but Corsair has typically always favoured hard-wired designs, although we do hope to see that change in the future.

So there we have it, if you’re looking for a shorter form factor keyboard, that doesn’t come with all the added fuss of RGB lighting, complex macro buttons or any of that nonsense, then this is where you’ll find it. Just plug it in, it lights up, and it’s ready to game all day and night long just as much as you are!

Pros

  • Compact form factor
  • Durable construction
  • Competitive price
  • Lightweight USB cable
  • Red LED lighting
  • Dedicated multimedia and volume controls
  • Cherry MX switches
  • Windows key lock
  • Wrist rest compatible

Cons

  • Would prefer a removable cable design
  • Wrist rest not included

“While the Corsair K63 isn’t as feature-packed as its big brothers, it still offers blazing performance that’s going to give you an edge at home in the office, or out on tour with your pro-gaming team. It looks great, performs perfectly and comes at a price that’s sure to put a smile on your face.”
