Corsair H115i RGB Platinum CPU Cooler Review

Final Thoughts

Price

At a price of £139.99, this updated model of the H115i is still (impressively) around the same price we have seen from previous iterations of the model. We all know that in terms of coolers, Corsair is one of the most popular and widely used manufacturers and as such you know you’re getting a quality product. While to some the price may seem a little high, when you understand just how good this cooler is, it certainly represents excellent value.

Design and Ease Of Use

It’s hard to find fault with this in terms of the design. Not only does it look good, but it’s easy to install and clearly does a fantastic job. While it is a little unclear if the advantages of the moderately larger 280mm design are really that notable, at the same time this clearly outperforms the vast majority of the 240mm coolers we have seen. Therefore, Corsair is clearly getting something right here!

When the RGB lighting is turned on, the already nice sleek design suddenly comes to life in spectacular fashion.

Overview

The Corsair H115i RGB Platinum, being 280mm in size, is certainly offering something a little different to the market. As we said earlier, these size radiators are not unheard of, but certainly do not fit in with more common designs. On the whole, though, this larger design does work. While it might not have the same cooling capability of a 360mm cooler (although it does beat many of them in our testing) it’s certainly a good compromise in size. Particularly if your chassis cannot handle a 360mm cooler (which are large).

This is, therefore, absolutely perfect for someone who wants a cooler that has a stronger performance than a standard 240mm model but also wants to keep the size at a reasonable level.

With the near silent fan operational noise and fantastic performance figures, the Corsair H115i RGB Platinum is hard to fault. It’s different, but in a very good way!

Pros

  • Amazing Performance figures!
  • Near silent fan operational noise.
  • Slighter larger radiator/fan design provides impressive comparative results!
  • Fantastically bright and vivid RGB lighting effects.
  • Easy To Install (albeit a little trickier for AMD).
  • Feels exceptionally well put together. Should provide exceptionally reliable running for a very long time!

Cons

  • The lack of a supplied AMD backplate will catch many buyers out! In addition, the AMD installation has a bit of a ‘Frankenstein/reverse engineered’ feel about it.

Neutral

  • None.
