Corsair has today released a new 12VHPWR Connector Bridge designed to alleviate the risk of the melting issues that several users have reported with the new connector.
Corsair 12VHPWR GPU Connector Bridge
This new bridge as shared by TomsHardware, uses a 180-degree adapter to mitigate the fire risks that some users have experienced with the 12VHPWR connection and offers a design that places less stress on the cables. This adapter features a simple design with the Corsair logo and rounded edges and is sure to fit in well with most systems. Additionally a Corsair rep has confirmed that the product page isn’t fully up to date and the cover of the adapter will be swappable between white and black for different build themes.
Safer Power Connections
The product page states that this adaptor uses a reinforced PCB which has a 105-degree resistance and offers less stress for the cable reducing the need for a tight bend. Additionally the page points out that the ROG STRIX and TUF GPUs are not compatible due to the rotated GPU power connectors. This connector emerges within a competitive niche space which also contains CableMod’s offerings as well as cheap unbranded Chinese offerings. Currently the CableMod adapters are £39.95 which is a rough guideline for where these could be priced and hopefully lower.
