Corsair HS60 Pro Surround Multi-Format Headset Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Corsair HS60 Pro Surround Headset is available from pretty much every major retailer. It’s on Amazon for around £73, which is honestly a pretty fair price for what you get. However, at the time of writing, Corsair themselves list it for just £65 on their own website, albeit that may not include shipping. Either way, I think anything under £80 is a pretty solid price for this one.

Overview

What can I really say about the Corsair HS60, it’s pretty much everything I expected of it really. We’ve reviewed just about every Corsair HS-series headset over many years now and they’re all broadly similar. This latest version is a little more refined, sound a little bitter, and looks a little better than the older models and that’s about it really.

Performance

The sound quality is broadly similar to other HS-series headsets. However, this one is just a little more expensive to bring you a few quality of life improvements. The first is the fantastic 7.1 surround sound dongle. I love that thing, as it is plug and play ready. No mucking about with silly software, just turn it on and game.

That being said, playing on console or mobile devices using the 3.5mm jack was hardly second best. The stereo performance was superb when listening to music, playing games, watching Netflix etc. Plus, if you have it, many devices offer virtual surround via Dolby Atmos Headphone or similar anyway.

Microphone

Gaming is big business, and being able to communicate with your team or hurl hurtful comments to the other team is pretty important to many gamers. The quality of this microphone is a bit above what I usually see paired at this price range. It’s really clear and I love that it’s detachable so you can use the HS60 Pro as headphones too.

Overview

This really is one of the easiest conclusions I’ve had to make in a while. The HS60 Pro looks fantastic, it’s really well built, it sounds superb and the price is spot on too. It works on multiple devices, it fits all ages, and that’s really the end of it. If you need a new headset, I think this is it.
