Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless Headset Review

A Closer Look

The design is obviously leaning on some of their previous models, but not much. It’s certainly more new than old, and it looks fantastic! There’s a tiny gold trim on the mount, which reminds me of the Corsair HS70 Pro Wireless. There’s a contoured mounting arm, which is like the Virtuoso SE, albeit, it’s only on one side of the driver. And even the shape of the driver housing is borrowed from the older Corsair VOID shape. Also, it seems I’ve reviewed a lot of Corsair headsets over the years! I like the subtle branding too, just the Corsair sails in the corner, nothing too flashy.

The design of the ear cups is pretty toned down, but they’re also closed back, which will help lock in the sound a little more. The ear cups are quite large too, easily lending them to an around-the-ear design for a more comfortable fit.

There’s a tiny model number stamped on this metal bracket, which looks pretty neat; I love the finish on the metal too!

A slim font on the Corsair logo at the top, which looks really classy too. No overly bright colours or anything, just a more professional look. So you could wear this as a gamer, but you won’t look like an idiot wearing it for your works Teams meeting.

The headband is actually an outer frame, but it uses a padded elastic inner section to provide a comfortable fit.

It just takes up the tension when you put it on.

However, there are some recessed sections, where you’ll find the Velcro pull-tabs to adjust the fit.

The ear cups turn out by just a few degrees but can be rotated inwards a full 90-degrees.

Having them fold flat like this makes them more comfortable to wear around your neck in between uses. It’ll also make them slimmer in general, so they’ll find in your bag or drawers more easily.

The interior of the ear cups is treated with a luxurious fabric design. While this won’t give you the noise isolation properties of leather pads, it is breathable and very comfortable on your head. If you’re gaming for long hours, that trade-off for comfort is going to be welcome. Also, you won’t get sweaty ears with these, which is always a welcome bonus. There’s loads of smushy memory foam here too, so the headset soaks up the clamping force of the headband rather nicely.

On the back of the left ear cup, you’ll find two controls, offering you power and volume. However, when pressed, the volume wheel has a nice mechanical click, allowing you to mute/unmute.

There’s a USB C port on the lower section, which is nicely recessed, so the cable will fit in nice and securely.
