A Closer Look
The 2 120mm, 7 bladed, black fans that Corsair supply are rated for up to 2600 RPM with a maximum noise of 39 dbA. Both fans feature a standard 3 pin connection as their speed is controlled by you. Simply push the button on the cooling unit and the LED will let you know which fan profile is active. Quiet’s fan speed is 900-1300 RPM. Balanced is 1300-2000 RPM. Performance is 1600-2600 RPM.
The H80 has some apparent differences from it’s predecessors. The high-quality FEP tubing has changed the image slightly. The biggest change is the use of a square cooling-unit rather than circular.
At 38mm thick, the radiator should be able do a great job in helping cool our CPU.
Couple the thick radiator with a very dense fin array and heat dissipation shouldn’t be a problem.
The FEP tubing is all black to fit in with the aesthetics of the rest of the H80. FEP tubing ensures low coolant evaporation rates hence increasing the lifespan of the cooler.
Thermal paste is pre-applied to the H80’s “Advanced cooling block”.
The Corsair “Link Digital” connection is located on the cooling unit.
A couple of 4-pin fan headers are positioned on the cooling unit so that fan compatibility is widespread.
The push button on the cooling unit allows you to change the cooling profile. 3 white LEDs indicate the active profile.
The nozzles which enter the cooling unit feature a point of swivel.
The nozzles can be rotated fairly significantly to allow for better compatibility while position the tubing.
