Corsair iCUE 5000T RGB Mid-Tower Case Review

Exterior

There’s no doubt about it, this is one stunning looking case. It takes what we know and love about the fantastic Corsair 5000D and just pushes everything to the next level. It has an “it wasn’t broke, but we fixed it anyway” mentality about it. It’s a mid-tower, but it’s a little bigger than most mid-towers, and certainly wider too, with a nice fat body kit on it that makes it look and feel robust.

The metalwork and plastics are nicely matched, with this sandblasted type finish that has a slight texture to it, giving it a softer and more premium finish compared to just a flat painted panel or a shiny bit of plastic. It looks great, with three alternating recesses on each side of the front panel.

There are three more recesses at the top of the side panel, which have RGB lights built-in.

Three more at the bottom, and guess what, there are lights in there too!

Furthermore, the glass looks gorgeous, with a large thick tempered glass panel, with a darker tint and flush-mounted edges for a cleaner look overall.

The right side panel is metal, but with a bead rolled border that gives it a little more definition, but that also helps make the panel more rigid overall. Both the left and right side panels are mounted on lift-off hinges at the back and have magnetic catches at the front, keeping them both tool-free for easy access. As you can see, the right side has those same recesses at the top and bottom too, with more RGB in those matching the style of the left side of the case.

There’s a large ventilated section here too, and the interior of the case has side fan/radiator mounts (which I’ll show you shortly) to make use of this, as well as a removable dust filter.

The front panel just dominates here, with that enormous ventilated panel on the front offering massive amounts of airflow for your system. Behind it, you’ll find three of Corsairs premium LL120 RGB fans, ensuring you get great cooling performance, but also a stunning light show; I’ll show you those in action later!

I do love all the curves and recesses on the exterior of the 5000T though, it just simply looks cool and rather unique too. Of course, style is subjective, but after reviewing hundreds of cases, I feel I’ve got a fairly well-informed opinion on case designs.

Upon the top, there’s even more ventilation with a beautifully recessed mesh design providing plenty of airflow in the top of the case. There’s room for more fans and radiators in there, but again, we’ll get to those shortly as you can’t see much from out here.

The front panel I/O looks awesome, with power/reset controls on the edges, a combination audio jacks, USB Type-C and four USB 3.0 ports giving you plenty of connectivity. They’re all finished with that stunning Corsair yellow too, which I think looks rather neat, but may not be to everyone else’s taste.

Around the back, you’ll see that lovely triangular ventilation pattern continues, allowing for good airflow around all major components. It’s also clear just how wide the case actually is, with room for a dual-slot vertical GPU mount to the right of the standard ATX mounts. There’s a 120mm fan mount (fan not included), and all the expansion slots are fitted with reusable and ventilated metal covers.
