How Much Does it Cost?
The Corsair K57 RGB Wireless SLIPSTREAM Gaming Keyboard is available now. You can expect an MSRP of $99.99 in the US and around £89.99 in the UK. That’s pretty reasonable given the level of features on offer. Full CAPELLIX RGB lighting, wired and wireless functionality, SLIPSTREAM, macros, multimedia controls, wrist rest, etc. It’s not cheap, but it’s competitive and you do get a lot for your investment.
Overview
Corsair seems incapable of releasing a bad product these days. This is especially true when it comes to their keyboards. It’s easy to see why their keyboards are some of the most popular around the work. Not just with PC gamers, but even in the professional and home office environment. That being said, I’ve enjoyed typing on this keyboard the last few days, but with all that RGB tech and the macros, it’s certainly more appealing to the gamers of the world than anything else.
iCUE
The level of customisation on offer is impressive. With iCUE, you can tinker with everything you could need and then some. Polling rates can be changed down to 125 Hz and up to 1000 Hz over USB. You can adjust the brightness of the lights, the layout, the sleep timers, wireless features, per-key lighting effects, macros, and more.
Wireless
The wireless features are as good as they get. Slipstream means that even wirelessly you’re getting a 1ms response time, which is on par with the wired mode. Plus, the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery can deliver up to 35 hours performance even with full RGB lighting. However, that drops to just 8 hours with maximum brightness. Need to last longer than that while gaming? Turning the lighting off gets you up to 175 hours! Either way, the USB cable is there, so keeping it charged and plugged in while at your usual desk is still the way to go for typical usage.
Should I Buy One?
It’s extremely versatile. Being able to use it wired at your main PC over USB. Then how about you pair it over Bluetooth with your HTPC for gaming in the living room. Or travel with it and use it as a portable gaming keyboard with your LAN rig. Perhaps you just love to ditch the cable and have a clean desk while working? The choice is yours. Loads of features, amazing RGB, responsive switches and a pretty reasonable price. I can’t really find a fault with it!
