Corsair K60 RGB Pro Viola Switch Keyboard Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Corsair K60 RGB PRO Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHerry VIOLA Switches is available now for just £109.99 at most major retailers. You can find on Amazon UK here. Which seems a lot, but it’s half what the K95 Plat costs, yet you still get all that Corsair iCUE goodness thrown in.

Overview

It seems everyone is fighting for a rival to Cherry MX switches these days, even Cherry! They’re expensive switches, and they’re extremely popular meaning the ramp up the cost of a keyboard. Many rival brands have taken to designing their own switches with mixed success. However, now that we have a genuinely simpler and more cost effective mechanical switch from Cherry themselves, it does give us some exciting options.

This is a premium keyboard at heart, and it still has all of the bells and whistles one would expect to find on a much more expensive Corsair keyboard. That alone is impressive, but it’s still cheaper than if it had MX Red, while still being plenty competitive for your typical gamer too.

You could always spend a bit more for something like the Corsair K70, which is around about £150-160, but hey, an extra £50 is a LOT extra on top, making the new VIOLA Switch models very appealing for those looking for a new Corsair keyboard.

You get built-in multimedia controls, full per-key RGB lighting and iCUE software customisation and loads of built-in effects. It’s a lot of fun to game on and I’ve been typing on it for a couple of days now with no real complaints. I even think it’s a little quieter to use than an MX switch, which certainly pleases those around me with my constant gaming and typing.

Should I Buy One?

Corsair keyboard do tend to be very expensive, but they’ve built up a reputation and level of features that helps justify that. With the K60 RGB Pro you get all the looks and features of their flagship models for a much lower price, yet get the performance that will still outpace traditional membrane, plunger, membranicals and all those other alternatives. I can’t wait to test more like it!
