Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

How Much Does it Cost?
Just like the previous K70 keyboards, the MK.2 version is one of the flagships of the Corsair range. That means a flagship price, and at £149.99 for the black one and £159.99 for the white one, it may be out of many peoples price range. That being said, with all that lovely aluminium, RGB, a wrist rest, Cherry switches and more, you do get a lot of quality for your money.
Overview
I love that Corsair has taken an already great keyboard and made it even better. However, I also love that they didn’t go too far with it either. The K70 formula is a winning combination of excellent performance, durability and style, and that hasn’t changed one bit. The keyboard grips your desk better than ever thanks to the improved underside. The new multimedia control buttons are much easier to use and look better too. The profile and other controls are now on the top left, meaning you can use them without taking a handoff of your mouse. Also, the RGB lighting is bolder than ever. Again, nothing drastic, but the little details add up.
Cherry MX
Corsair’s fan base stretches far and wide, and while this is a flagship keyboard, it still has broad appeal. From enthusiast PC gamers to the eSports scene. To people like me working at home, to those wanting something swag for the office. The K70 has something to offer to everyone. With that in mind, it comes as little surprise to see this keyboard offering such a broad range of switch types. Which one is right for you is subjective, but the MX Red model we tested is absolutely fantastic.
Build Quality
Again, the K70 knocks it out of the park here. The aluminium chassis gives the K70 MK.2 the premium quality look and feel it deserves. Of course, at this price range, I would expect nothing less. The weight of the keyboard and the overall design mean it should last you many years of use with little concern. The inclusion of thick braided cables, a keycap puller, extra keycaps, and a wrist rest only help sweeten the deal.
Should I Buy One?
If you own a K70 and it’s working great, I wouldn’t rush out to upgrade any time soon. However, if you’re taking your first plunge into the K70 range, or feel your old one is getting a little tired, this is the keyboard for you. It may be a bit expensive, but for a flagship keyboard it is competitive. Of course, spending a little more for that premium quality can often put a smile on your face.
