Corsair M55 RGB Pro Ambidextrous Gaming Mouse Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Corsair M55 RGB Pro is hitting the market right now, with an MSRP of just 49.99 EUR, £44.99, and $39.99. Honestly, I thought it was going to be about 30-40% more than that, and if the price holds true, the M55 Pro RGB is an extremely competitive gaming mouse at an equally competitive price.

Overview

When it boils down to it, the Corsair M55 RGB Pro isn’t really innovative. However, there’s a sense of experience and evolution from previous models. It has Omron switches, as many mice do, but they’re a great fit, comfortable, and plenty responsive for gaming. There’s a quality PixArt sensor with lots of fine tuning available, as do many mice, but again, it’s a great sensor and works well. So while it’s not really pushing the technical limits, it has what it needs to and performs perfectly as a result.

Performance

What surprises me most of all is how light and smooth this mouse feels. It’s very well balanced, as it should be given the ambidextrous design. Again though, ambidextrous it may be, but even if you’re right-handed only, it’s still a great mouse to use. A few extra buttons aren’t going to hurt, and if anything, they’re going to come in useful for work and gaming.

Build Quality

I know not everyone loves the rubber grips on mice, as they are subject to a bit of wear and tear over time. That’s just to be expected really. You have to compromise on the comfort and grip vs the lifetime of that rubber. This one is pretty hard wearing though, so I suspect it’ll last a long time.

Final Thoughts

I’m more impressed at the price of this mouse more than anything. Not only is it from a big name brand like Corsair. But, it also features premium brand components in its construction. Throw in the superb iCUE software, RGB lighting, and a stylish ambidextrous design. You’ll be hard pushed to find a better mouse for the same money.
