A Closer Look
Aesthetics are a big part of PC building for a lot of people, so you’ll be glad to see that this is quite a nice looking drive. One thing you will notice first though, is that it doesn’t have any RGB. It must have been difficult for Corsair to break out of that shell, but given the abundance of RGB hardware, it’s nice to have some more muted options on the market too.
It features a thick aluminium heatspreader, which is going to do a great job of dissipating the heat from the NAND chips below it. Gen4 drives run a lot faster than their previous generation, and that can mean more heat, so ensuring the drive is well protected and cooled can make a massive difference to performance when the drive is put under heavy workloads.
The drive uses the M.2 2280 form factor, so it’s fairly compact, especially so for a 2TB drive. Amazing to think you can get this level of storage and performance from a drive that’s just 80mm long.
The only thing you may want to check is the height. Some M.2 slots on the rear of a motherboard, or close to a GPU installation may conflict with the heatsink, but in most cases, I cannot see this being an issue.
