CORSAIR MP700 PRO SE PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 SSD Revealed

Corsair has just revealed that they’ll be launching a new SSD with the MP700 PRO SE, a super-fast PCIe Gen 5.0 model that can achieve sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/sec and sequential write speeds up to 12,000 MB/sec. Of course, that means it’ll be one of the fastest consumer drives on the market, and around double the speed of the best PCIe Gen 4 drives on the market right now, around 25 times the speed of a SATA SSD, and more than a hundred times that of a HDD.

This is a premium drive, so expect costs to be pretty high, and the drive only comes in 2TB and 4TB, so don’t expect a more affordable 512GB one to pad out the range here.

Corsair says that in addition to its extreme sequential read and write speeds, the MP700 PRO SE features the latest interface, controller, and NAND flash technologies, all of which will help it hit class-leading speeds.

MP700 PRO SE

Although the drive requires cooling to achieve optimal performance, the integrated M.2 cooling on most motherboards is more than capable. Hydro X Series

If you want something even more extreme, this drive will also be available with a water block. Flagship Gen5 drives can easily exceed 100c without proper cooling, which will slow their performance.
