Final Thoughts
How Much Does it Cost?
The Corsair Obsidian 500D Mid-Tower Tempered Glass PC Chassis is priced at £127.95 right now. I think it launched with an MSRP of £149.99, so it’s good to see there are some deals on the price, however small. That’s not a small lump of cash, I’ll admit. However, for this much tempered-glass and aluminium, it’s pretty fantastic value for money for a premium chassis.
Overview
Corsair has knocked it out of the park with their latest Obsidian chassis. OK, maybe on THE latest model, but it’s one of the most recent range at least. For those building an enthusiast grade PC, you’ll want it to look at home. Having a premium grade chassis like this can really complete your build. Not only is it well made, but it also look truly stunning. It’s both aggressive enough to be a gaming chassis, and smart enough to look nice in the office too.
Build Quality
The Obsidian series has always been known for its premium quality, and that certainly hasn’t changed over the years. The 500D uses a robust steel internal structure. It’s pretty heavy, but the strength gives me confidence it’ll handle a high-end PC and all that liquid cooling without worry. They’ve used some fantastic black and deep textured brushed aluminium to finish up the exterior, and thick smoked tempered glass for the side panels. The little details stack up too. Easy open and removable hinges for the doors, magnetic locks, magnetic dust filters, modular HDD mounts and more.
To The Extreme
With the 500D, you could easily build a multi-GPU gaming PC or workstation. There’s room enough for the longest and widest expansion cards on the market today, with plenty of room to spare. Of course, that’s not wasted space, as you can fit thick radiators, extra fans, and more around the system to push the performance to the next level.
Should I Buy One?
At this price, it may seem a bit expensive. However, you get what you pay for and then some. With little things, like the PSU shroud, great cable routing system, USB Type-C support, and the two extra fans included, Corsair has done a lot to more than justify the retail price. Highly recommended.
