Efficiency, PFC and Voltage Regulation
Voltage Regulation
Following our testing, it is clear that Corsair has made some good choices in terms of the components used in this power supply. Across the entire testing, very little deviancy in the voltage power levels is found. Where there is some deviancy, however, it is still all very consistent and more importantly to the positive side rather than negative.
The -12V rail gave the biggest discrepancies, however, given that that particular rail is not as important as others, we can not find any fault with the results even in this regard.
Power Efficiency
The Corsair RM 750X provided excellent results in terms of efficiency. If anything, the results at full 100% load are actually exceptionally impressive. While this power supply might be marketed as Gold-rated, the testing puts this more in line with platinum.
Seeing better than expected results in power supplies is not uncommon for us. These, however, certainly made us raise an eyebrow.
Power Factor Correction
The PFC testing is equally as impressive as the efficiency. While the Corsair RM 750X is clearly at it’s optimum under average load, the drop off in the upper and lower areas is still remarkably good. Even based on the Corsair own advertised specifications on the packaging, our testing found on average an increase of 0.8 in all areas.
When your test results are better than those on the box, you know you’re onto something good here.
