Corsair RM1000i Special Edition PSU Appears on eBay

Corsair recently celebrated the fact they’ve been in the PSU business for ten years, as well as hitting the incredible benchmark of selling over 10 million of them! To commemorate the special occasion, Corsair created 100 limited edition units of one of their most successful units, the RM1000i. Some of these PSUs went to media for competitions and other promotions, while the rest went up for sale on the Corsair website.

“Over the past decade, CORSAIR has revolutionized the enthusiast PSU industry with an unrelenting commitment to product quality and innovation that has seen the PSU evolve from an after-thought into the high-quality heart of a modern PC. CORSAIR has championed a range of key features to push PC power supplies to new levels of performance, functionality and customization. Modular PSUs have made building PCs easier, Zero RPM fan mode allows the PSU’s fan to switch off entirely under low loads and with digitally controlled power and CORSAIR LINK PSU monitoring, users can find out exactly how their PSU is performing in an instant.”

Now it seems like one of these freakishly rare limited editions is up for sale on eBay, and the asking price is a real wallet buster. The starting bid is $450, and the buy it now price is a ridiculous $1,500! We think someone may have overestimated the market demand here.

“Its one of only 100 made! Special edition white power supply unit from corsair you won’t see many if any up for sale. Number 26 out of 100 new sealed in the box still. White led fan and sleek look would be perfect for a white build and turn a lot of heads” reads the listing.

It’ll be interesting to see how Corsair reacts to this. Is this one of the retail release units or one of the promo ones they gave away? I’m sure they know who had which serial number. Given the seller is asking for such a stupid amount of money, we can’t see there being many takers, as the RRP is still sitting at £199.99 on the Corsair website, but what do we know!
