How Much Does It Cost?

The Corsair RM650 has a retail price of £89.99 with the 850-watt variant going up to £109.99.

While this might seem rather hefty for a 650-watt power supply, this is without a doubt one of the best currently available on the market for that price range. Not only are you getting an exceptionally well-designed product, but don’t forget that huge 10-year guarantee that Corsair provides. With that in mind, this is a bargain!

Performance

Before the product arrived on our test bench, Corsair made it pretty clear that we should expect something pretty special from this new range and, in fairness, this was not hyperbole. While the promise was lofty, in a sentence, we were not disappointed.

Throughout all of our tests, the Corsair RM650 performed remarkably well. So well, in fact, that it’s hard to point out a single standout feature because they were all so good.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best power supplies we’ve ever tested in terms of ‘all-round’ performance.

Practicality & Functionality

Although higher wattage variants are available, 650 watts should be more than sufficient for the vast majority of gaming PCs. While Corsair hasn’t exactly pushed out the boat in terms of any aesthetic or design ‘bells and whistles’ such inclusions may have only distracted (or detracted) from what is such a good power supply.

Our testing clearly demonstrated that this has been exceptionally well designed, well put together, and perhaps most importantly, with the 10-year guarantee, Corsair is clearly committed to this power supply being able to stand the test of time.

Should I Buy One?

With a price tag placing this at something towards the mid-tier of power supplies, it is perhaps a little more expensive than some may expect. Then again, there is a common misconception that Corsair only produces ‘entry-level’ power supplies.

It doesn’t, however, take much digging to realise that this is certainly not the case and in terms of all around performance, the RM650 is without a doubt one of the best power supplies we have ever had the pleasure to test.

It always pains us here at eTeknix when people build amazing computers and then ‘cheap out’ on the power supply. Trust us, while having a good power supply may not be the most exciting aspect of a PC build, it is without a doubt one of the most important. Don’t forget as well that high-efficiency ratings, such as the gold that this PSU has, can save you more than a little money with the electric bill.

As such, if you are looking to put a new PC system together or are perhaps looking to upgrade your existing power supply, the Corsair RM650 is, without a doubt, an excellent option for any who both truly care and understand a quality design when they see it.
