Over Power Protection and Max Wattage

Although power supplies always have a rated wattage output, it’s not unusual for them to allow for a little ‘wiggle room’. It a power supply is pushed too far, however, it is important to know that the protections work successfully to ensure that the PSU shuts down before any risk to components is encountered.

With the Corsair RM1000x achieving 1260 watts, we can confirm that the OPP worked perfectly and, with this being just over 20% above the rated amount, there’s certainly a decent enough margin here provided before the protections feel compelled to kick in.
