Corsair RMx Series RM1000X Power Supply Review

Fan Speed

The Corsair RM1000x is a bit of a curious creature as rather than having a manually controllable ‘hybrid’ fan function, this has it built-in as an inherent part of the design. Put simply, if the fan doesn’t think it’s needed, it doesn’t run. And this clearly by proxy results in low and often silent operation.

So, with this in mind, in our testing we found that unless the power supply was roughly at around 70% load, the fan didn’t deem it necessary to operate at all. Even when it did, achieving a maximum speed of around 450RPM is remarkably low. – Put simply, this is amazingly quiet and will definitely be a valuable feature for those who enjoy near-silent systems!
