Corsair RMx Series RM1000X Power Supply Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Following direct confirmation of the product website, Corsair has confirmed that the RM1000X should retail for a price in the region of £169.99. While we would acknowledge that this is undoubtedly quite a significant sum, for a power supply with these specifications, features, and wattage output, that’s definitely a good price!

Remember too, this also comes with a huge 10-year guarantee meaning that this power supply should potentially last you for several PC builds to come!

Performance

In so many respects, the Corsair RM1000x ticks all the right boxes the savvy power supply consumer should be looking for. It’s potent coming in with 1000 watts of power output, it has an 80-plus Gold efficiency rating, and as can be seen throughout our testing, it didn’t skip a beat once no matter what we asked it to do.

Without a doubt, however, particular highlights of our tests were the amazing low noise-output and, of course, that incredible low ripple noise.

Practicality & Functionality

Being slightly larger than your average power supply, if you’re looking for something to accompany your m-itx chassis, we’d strongly recommend that you check the compatibility first. In practically 99% of cases though, we wouldn’t expect the Corsair RM1000x to create or cause any problems.

Additionally, if you value exceptionally low noise output in your build, the RM1000x’s clever design means that the fan often doesn’t deem it necessary to fun, and, even when it does, we still doubt you’ll notice it!

Should I Buy One?

Combining many excellent features with a (possibly) lower than anticipated price tag, the Corsair RM1000x is definitely one of the best power supplies I have encountered in quite some time. Yes, at 1000 watts, this particular one we reviewed here might be a little overkill for your particular system, but with models available all the way down to 550w, however, if the RMx Series isn’t at least part of your PSU consideration, then you need to do a bit more research into what the difference between an OK and great power supply is. Because trust us when we say, the Corsair RM1000x truly is great!
