Overview
Corsair is one of the biggest names in the PC gaming world, and their Sabre gaming mice have been a staple of the PC market for many years now. I’ve reviewed a whole bunch of them over the years, and frankly, I’m always impressed when a new one comes along. The wired model only landed 6 months ago, and it was stunning. Nothing groundbreaking, but just a solid, really tightly performing gaming mouse that didn’t break the bank. The wireless model will come in at a slightly higher price, but given you can use it in a wired or wireless mode, or even via Bluetooth, it seems like a sound investment for those who need versatility.
What really amazed me about this mouse is that it looks and feels just like the wired one. Despite adding batteries and wireless tech, it’s only 5 grams heavier, but frankly, I can’t really tell. What obviously makes a difference is you’re no longer tied to the cable, so the mouse does feel freer by design and you’re not going to snag the cable on anything, as it’s not there. That being said, the USB-C cable they’ve included transforms the mouse back to wired, perfect for tournaments, and you can play/charge at the same time, so the action never has to stop.
The new mouse doesn’t just get the wireless treatment either, and the new sensor is certainly a big win for Corsair. It’s the highest DPI sensor I’ve ever tested, and I suspect we’ll be seeing this sensor in a lot of upcoming Corsair mice over the coming months.
Should I Buy One?
If you’re looking for a mouse that delivers stunning performance at a great price, I honestly suggest the wired version of this mouse. It may not have the same sensor, but even then it still has one of the best sensors on the market anyway and you’ll save a bit of money for beer and pizza. However, if you want a mouse that delivers the same style, ergonomics and slick performance, but with a tuned-up sensor and flawless wireless performance, there really is no contest, the Corsair Sabre RGB Pro Wireless Champion Series Mouse is pretty fantastic.
