Corsair SP2500 2.1 PC Speaker System Review

I wanted to test these speakers in a variety of different ways as they are the type of product to be bought by a variety of users, ranging from those wanting to watch movies, those wanting to play hardcore gaming sessions and those who purely want to listen to every beat and strum in a music track, and then you get the all-rounder like me who likes to dabble in a bit of everything, with my main thing being music as I’m actually writing this review while listening to some of the best tunes currently in the charts.
First up was movies and though it’s an oldie, I still believe Blade 2 to have some of the best DTS audio I’ve ever heard on a movie and offers some amazing dynamic sound with plenty of bass, mid-range tones and treble while still being able to shake your house if you want to using the levels of the speakers and the SP2500’s didn’t fail in this area and fully immersed me into the movie. In fact, I ended up watching the whole movie from start to finish in the end as it was simply amazing and a great blast from the past too.
Next up was a bit of gaming and this found me actually running a game that didn’t involve benchmarking, which is where you’d usually find myself as I simply don’t have time to game, but instead I fired up some Battlefield 3 as this offers realistic sound effects and great depth of field. Once again, this offered some fantastic results and found me playing the game for longer than I expected, though due to my limited gameplay skills, I did get killed quite a lot, but lets keep that hush hush for now, shall we? You could really hear the difference when you moved from inside a building to outside and the clarity was second to none with some great rumbles from the mammoth subwoofer when explosions occurred.
Lastly, I found myself pausing before writing about music playback as I had it cranked up full and found myself listening to some Muse and All American Rejects tracks on repeat, I found myself tweaking the bass depending on the track as I don’t think my neighbours and colleagues were too pleased with me blaring out these tunes as loud as I could, but obviously this is dependant on the track and the quality of the bitrate etc… The SP2500’s were able to handle the extreme levels of bass and treble with ease and really gave a pleasant experience to the ears.
