The Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-04 Mid-Tower Gaming Chassis is available right now at most major retailers or Corsair directly for £49.99. That’s pretty fantastic value money for a chassis that looks this good. Of course, it comes from a well-known and well-respected brand name, which certainly helps. Don’t forget, that also includes a 2-year warranty on the product.
I really like the Spec-04, although I have to admit that it is far from perfect. Of course, many of the minor issues I had with it are easy to forgive, especially when you consider what you get for a very modest price. It’s obviously tailored to appeal to those on a tighter budget, and £50 is a bit of a bargain for a brand name chassis like this. While it will be kind to your wallet, it’s still a great looking chassis and doesn’t look “cheap” in my opinion. If I built a gaming rig inside of this, I would be more than happy to show off the case.
There’s not really anything wrong with this chassis that would be a deal breaker, but certainly still a few things people should keep in mind when ordering one. The rear compartment for cable routing is sufficient but limited. Don’t expect to run all your excess back there to keep the front tidy, as there likely isn’t enough room. However, you’ll still be able to route a few cables for major motherboard components. Also, the cable hole for the motherboard 8-pin was obstructed by the motherboard. If you install a flat cable prior to installing the motherboard, that may work, otherwise, you’ll have to route another way. Finally, there’s only one fan pre-installed, that’s not a deal breaker either, but you may want to add one more for heat exhaust.
It looks stunning, and Corsair has certainly done a great job of the aesthetics. The front panel design is really funky, but not too over the top. The red LED fan pairs up well with the colour highlights on the chassis. A huge side panel window is a nice addition too. Those investing in a nice motherboard, and cool looking GPU will no doubt want to show it off. The price is fantastic too, and you do get a decent quality chassis for your money, that’s more than capable of housing a decent gaming rig. The removable drive trays and the dedicated 2.5″ mounts are a nice addition too. The side-mounted I/O look neat and tidy too.
“If you’re looking for an affordable and stylish chassis for your next gaming system, the Corsair Spec-04 is going to be a great addition to your build.”
