When it comes to customising the RGB lighting, you’ll find Corsair Utility Engine (CUE). This allows you to set any custom colour and lighting effect you desire to the FT100. Of course, if you have other compatible products from Corsair, you can synchronise their colours and effects too.
This means you can have effects that start in your system fans, then flow over your keyboard, through your mouse mat, into your headset stand, into your headset, and then right back around to your system. Why would you want to do this? I don’t know, it looks cool as hell even if it is somewhat pointless, but the style is subjective and no one said that we couldn’t simply have things because they’re fun.
There are two sound modes built into the base unit; stereo and 7.1 surround sound. Since the unit has its own built-in soundcard, it’s super easy to use, just plug in your headset and you’re ready to rock. You can choose the profile with a single click.
There’s a fully customisable EQ too, which is a very nice bonus. There are some presets that work really well, but their results will vary on your source material and your headset. I encourage you to tweak a bunch of custom profiles to suit your tastes. The power delivery is punchy too, it had no issues delivering bone-shaking bass and headache-inducing volume on my Astro A40’s. Of course, I don’t recommend you max it out like that for the sake of your eardrums, but at least I know it’s capable.
I never knew I wanted an RGB headset stand until I plugged this thing in. It just looks gorgeous with the lights dancing around the edges, especially on my black glass desktop.
Personally, I would likely set it to red or purple and leave it there. However, having extra customisation options is no bad thing. Anyone with experience of Corsair RGB lighting will know there is near endless customisation to play around with, so go nuts with it!
The top logo looks great too and really helps bring a boring headset stand into the realm of cool.
What do you think of the design? Is this something you could see being added to your desktop?
I think it looks great, and the construction of the unit is durable, it’s sturdy, and a great way of storing and connecting your audio devices. The RGB lighting is just the rainbow icing on the cake here.
