Corsair ST100 RGB Headset Stand and Sound Card Review

Price
The Corsair ST100 RGB Headset Stand and Surround Sound Amplifier is available now from most major retailers for around £59.99. That’s pretty good value for money for a “high end” headset stand. The Silverstone model I use was £55 and sure, that’s aluminium, but for the added RGB lighting, USB hub, and sound card, that’s a lot of extra features for such similar money!
Overview
The market for a product like this isn’t huge, but there definitely is a market for it. The Corsair fanbase has a good number of people who are RGB crazed and would do anything to expand on their custom lighting setup, but that’s far from everything this product has to offer.
RGB Lighting
The visuals this adds to your desktop are a nice thing to have. Sure, you can leave it on rainbow strobe lights if you desire. However, if you want all your stuff to match, set it to a solid colour that accents the rest of your desktop and system build and it certainly helps complete the picture. It looks great, that’s never a bad thing.
Sound Card
A headset stand usually does just that. Of course, with a build in sound card, the ST100 has way more to offer. It’s got powerful sound processing that can take a stereo headset and give it virtual 7.1 surround that works really well. By having a headphone jack, it also helps tidy up the cable runs too. You also don’t need to reach behind your PC to hook up the headset, which can be a bit of a blessing. Nor do you need to have the 3.5mm cable sticking out the front of your system.
The EQ settings are a huge bonus too. This is something that isn’t native to a lot of headsets or Windows in general. Being able to sculpt the sound to your liking can really enhance your movies, music and gaming experience.
USB Hub
With an additional pair of USB 3.0 ports, hooking up your phone, flash drives, or any other peripherals just got easier. It puts everything within easy reach of your desktop. Just like the headphone jack, you won’t be fishing around behind your computer to hook up devices.
Should I Buy One?
It’s a subjective product, but isn’t everything? If you’re looking for a USB Hub, a headphone amplifier, and a headset stand, then you may as well go for the ultimate all-in-one solution that is the ST100 RGB. It’s a fun and stylish product, but also far more practical than I expected, which more than justifies the asking price.
